As I’ve told you in previous posts, along with super heroes I fell in love with the adventure heroes that came out of the Pulp era and in the Golden Age of Radio. Those masked, and some not, adventures were always a part of me.

Let me introduce you to The Phantom Detective

As I created my own stories in the Pulp genre, such as “The Revenge of the Masked Ghost” I discovered I wasn’t the only one writing in those worlds. A genre called NEW PULP had been born and I didn’t know that I was part of it.

Publishers like Pro Se Productions and Airship 27 Productions and others provided places where writers could release their stories in a form similar to those original Pulps.

I have written for and done illustrations for both Pro Se and for Airship 27.

Today I get to announced that Airship 27’s latest release is out. PHANTOM DETECTIVE volume 3.

The Phantom Detective was one of those masked avengers of yesteryear, brought back to life in New Pulp.

I did thirteen black and white illustration in this anthology.

Presents
THE PHANTOM DETECTIVE Vol 3

Curtis Van Loan, wealthy Manhattan playboy by day, masked avenger by night as the Phantom. Now he returns in four new cases by today’s brightest pulp scribes.  From hunting a monstrous gangland killer to rescuing a newspaper journalist, the Phantom’s work is never done. Then a protection racket gets his attention before he flies off to Cleveland to connect with Elliot Ness.

From the pens of Carson Demmans, Fred Adams Jr., Michael F. Housel and Michael Black, here are a quartet of fast-paced, action adventures worthy of the one and only Phantom Detective. Adam Shaw provides the cover art and Kevin Broden the black and white interior illustrations.
