The Speech Approaches

If I’m going to keep this up, writing two blogs a week, I’ll need to learn how to be better plan them out in advance. I also have to schedule my writing periods for the blog in the middle of everything else I’m doing.

As mentioned in my previous post, I am currently working on a speech I’m going to be giving at Toastmasters this Saturday.

This is the speech that I’ve been building up to since the start of the year; when I began posting my new blog series on comic books, super heroes, and how they all impacted my life. Thank you all for reaching out and commenting on the series. It has meant a lot to know there were people out there actually reading it.

In planning for the giving the speech, which will be virtual through zoom, I hope to have visual aids to show off parts of what I included in different entries of the blog. Instead of using a PowerPoint presentation as a ‘Shared Screen’ in Zoom, I plan to use overlays and images in OBS (Open Broadcast Software). This program is usually used for streaming content on the internet, like on Twitch and Youtube.

The problem I have, and I’ll get into this in a future blog about my desire to do a regular stream, is that my computer (a MacBook Pro) doesn’t like to do streaming with OBS and it can slow things down. Not always, but it’s frustrating when it does. It’s just now powerful enough, I need to get a dedicated Streaming PC. (Part of why I have the Ko-Fi link on the right sidebar.)

Hopefully, for the five-minute speech I’ll be giving at Toastmasters, OBS will behave itself.

I’ll let you know how it goes, and hopefully share the recorded version of the speech next week.

Thanks again for the support.
